Critics Choice Awards 2026, la primera premiación del año en Hollywood

Estados Unidos suele dar inicio a la temporada de premios de Hollywood en medio de contrastes imposibles de pasar por alto. Si hace un año California enfrentaba los estragos de los incendios forestales, este comienzo de 2026 estuvo marcado por un clima político que volvió a ganar protagonismo en la agenda internacional tras la decisión del gobierno de Donald Trump de avanzar sobre Venezuela, un hecho sin precedentes que generó un fuerte impacto global.

Aun así, el contexto no alteró el cronograma de la industria audiovisual. En la costa oeste, cuna histórica del cine, se levantó el telón de un año que se anticipa intenso en materia cultural con la celebración de los Critics Choice Awards 2026, galardones que reconocen lo más destacado del cine y la televisión y empiezan a trazar el camino que tendrá su punto culminante el 15 de marzo con la entrega de los Premios Oscar.

Con la conducción, por cuarto año consecutivo, de Chelsea Handler, y desde el Barker Hangar de Santa Mónica, la gala número 31 organizada por la Critics Choice Association se adelantó esta vez a los Globos de Oro. La noche tuvo dos grandes protagonistas: One Battle After Another, el ambicioso regreso de Paul Thomas Anderson, protagonizado por Leonardo DiCaprio, se quedó con el premio a Mejor Película; mientras que en televisión el máximo reconocimiento fue para The Pitt, la producción de HBO Max liderada por Noah Wyle, que ya había saboreado el triunfo en los Premios Emmy 2025.

Y, afortunadamente, Hollywood volvió a tener presencia argentina en el arranque de la temporada. Una de las figuras que dijo presente en la gala fue Dolores Fonzi, directora de Belén, la elogiada producción de K&S Films distribuida por Amazon MGM Studios. La película competía en la categoría Mejor Película en Idioma Extranjero, pero el premio finalmente quedó en manos de El Agente Secreto, el drama brasileño neo-noir escrito y dirigido por Kleber Mendonça Filho.

Sinners había comenzado la velada como la gran favorita, liderando el listado con 17 nominaciones, seguida por One Battle After Another, que acumuló 14 candidaturas y terminó alzándose con tres estatuillas. Un escalón más abajo aparecieron Hamnet, con once menciones y un solo premio, y Frankenstein, que también reunió once postulaciones pero consiguió cuatro reconocimientos, reafirmando un panorama muy positivo para las producciones autorales de gran escala.

En cuanto a la televisión, The Pitt se consagró como Mejor Serie Dramática, afianzándose como uno de los proyectos más valorados del año. Noah Wyle obtuvo el galardón a Mejor Actor en Drama y su coprotagonista Katherine LaNasa fue distinguida como Mejor Actriz de Reparto. Por su parte, The Studio (Apple TV) se quedó con el premio a Mejor Serie de Comedia, mientras que Adolescence fue elegida Mejor Miniserie, confirmando una vez más la fuerte presencia de Netflix en ese formato.

Adolescence lideró las nominaciones televisivas con seis, y se fue con tres: además de Mejor Miniserie, Stephen Graham, Owen Cooper, y Erin Doherty triunfaron como Mejor Actor, Mejor Actor de Reparto, y Mejor Actriz de Reparto.

En contraste, la comedia romántica Nobody Wants This, protagonizada por Kristen Bell y Adam Brody, se fue con las manos vacías pese a sus cinco nominaciones. Otras series destacadas fueron Hacks (dos premios), y Severance (uno).
